The Bag

Buying this weekender bag is probably one of the smartest decisions I have made. Between myself and the friends I lend it to, it has seen tens of flights and road trips with no issues. I like how durable it feels; my cat scratches all of my bags, and this is the only one it hasn't damaged. The side pockets are also deep enough that I've felt confident putting books, my passport, phone and wallet in them. It's spacious enough that I've used it for three day trips with room to spare, but it also encourages me to overpack for shorter trips, like this.

The Contents

First and foremost, I brought my first aid kit. I found this beauty at Target, of course, I had to have the cool one instead of one of the boring plastic ones. In my first aid kit, I have: floral Band-Aids (cute), a Benadryl stick, Neosporin, gauze, alcohol wipes, scissors, eye drops, and all that other fun stuff. I also brought this adults and kids bug spray, whatever marketing team decided to make that its own bottle was genius, and a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic SPF.

In my trusty Glossier beauty bag, I brought my SkinMedica SPF, mini Vaseline, my vintage pill container, including Tylenol, melatonin, and Benadryl, my toothbrush, floss and all my other basic toiletries. I adore this bag so much, I also have the larger pink one, and they make trips so much easier. My hairbrush was just tossed in at random. Has anyone found a good way to pack those yet?

Clothing was the hardest for me to nail down, packing-wise. I ended up with a pair of sweatpants and this super lightweight JoyLab shirt that they apparently don't sell anymore, a short-sleeved athletic shirt I thrifted and this pair of Lululemon shorts. To sleep in, I brought a pair of boxers, a pair of beat-up pajama pants and a huge thrifted t-shirt. Along with socks and underwear, I threw in a tank top and another pair of shorts for good measure. I only brought two pairs of shoes: my Crocs and Adizeros. I left my rings at home because I was scared they would get lost or damaged. Instead, I accessorized with my prescription sunglasses, this sunhat, a belt bag, these super-secure hair ties and my water bottle. I also found a knock-off flashlight Jibbit at Target a while ago, kinda like these. They're cool.

Here's where I start to get really unsure about the packing. For entertainment purposes, I brought a deck of playing cards, dice, the book Girls With Long Shadows, my journal, pens and a deck of tarot cards. I had to seriously reason with myself and decided to leave my planner at home like a normal person.

For practical reasons, I brought a long lighter, a normal lighter, matches, lighter fluid (really into fire over here,) a pocket knife, a box cutter and a flashlight. I also brought coffee in my micro water bottle and a bag of peaches. This waffle knit blanket was the only one I felt comfortable taking because it's super breathable and holds up well in the wash, plus it's so cozy.
