The Best Homemade Meatballs

Growing up, I was obsessed with my mom's meatballs. Every year on my birthday, I would ask her to make them and nothing made me happier than coming home from school and seeing her pull out the orange recipe card for them. Naturally, when my little sister texted me this week to ask me if I want to make them I said YES and knew I had to share this recipe with y'all.

The recipe is so simple, it only requires eight ingredients and will take you no more than 15 minutes to prepare. The recipe includes ingredients and instructions for the meatballs and sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2lbs ground beef

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/2 pack of saltine crackers, crushed

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion

  • 1 cup ketchup

  • 1 cap full of vinegar

  • 1/8 cup brown sugar

  • 1/3 cup water

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 350°

  • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, crackers, onion, milk and 1/4 cup of ketchup

  • Form mixture into balls and place in a non-stick muffin tray

  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl mix 3/4 cup of ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar and water to make the sauce

  • Place bowl of sauce on top of the oven to warm while the meatballs are cooking

  • After 40 minutes, remove the meatballs and cover with sauce

  • Cook for 15 more minutes and enjoy

While these meatballs are great on their own, my family always serves them with potatoes. My personal favorite is cheesy potatoes, but this time my sister and I ate them with baby potatoes.

These also pair well with green beans, corn on the cob or even spaghetti if you're feeling traditional.

I hope you guys enjoyed one of my favorite childhood recipes. Let me know below if you try this or if you have any more tasty ideas for me to pair my next meatball meal with.
