How to Decorate a Table: On a Budget

This past weekend I took on the experience of decorating my first table for a church event along with my sister. As first timers, it was tricky to know exactly what to do, but we pulled it together (and managed to save a few bucks) and now I am ready to share the process with you guys!

In order to pull this table together, we had a list of things we needed:

• centerpiece

• tablecloth

• flatware

• teacups and water glasses

• dinner and salad plates

• name cards

• napkins

Some of these items we already owned like the tablecloth, flatware (sold out but similar here,) napkins, vase and glasses (both from TJ Maxx.) But for the rest, we were on a hunt to find a theme and locate the items to go with it.

After much time spent obtaining some Pinspo, we had our theme: floral meets vintage. Salvation Army turned out to be the holy grail of vintage style plates, we picked up the dinner and salad plates for $15 total and the teacups for only 49¢ each.

The hardest part was deciding on a centerpiece, with a small round table we could not go very big, but we wanted something beautiful. My sister decided to venture out to Trader Joe's floral center to gather some flowers and greenery that she later arranged with the help of some masking tape and a YouTube video.

The most enjoyable, and easiest, little detail were the name cards. To go for a simple look we picked up a package of rosemary and cut paper rectangles to hand letter our guests names on. My sister did the lettering with our favorite pens which you can find here.

Who knew that decorating a table could be so fun, easy and cheap, next time you decide to decorate a table know there is inspiration and tableware almost everywhere you look. The brunch was a blast, and you can find more pictures of it on my Instagram by following the link up top.

See ya later!
